Aims and Scope

Research in Alternative Animal Feeds (RAAF) is the only journal publishing scientific papers of international interest focusing on alternative/non-conventional animal feeds and their feeding.

Manuscripts describing research on alternative feeds for farm animals ruminants (cattle and small ruminants), non-ruminants (poultry, swine, horses, companion animals, and aquatic animals), beyond animals from wildlife and zoos are welcome.

RAAF encompasses the whole gamut of animal nutritional science with utilization of Alternative Feeds, including, but not limited to:

  • Utilization of alternative feeds and the improvement of such;
  • Methods of conserving and processing feeds that affect their nutritional value;
  • Agronomic and climatic factors influencing the nutritional value of feeds;
  • Nutritional requirements;
  • Nutritional value of alternative feeds (e.g., assessment, improvement);
  • Metabolic, production, reproduction, and health responses, as well as potential environmental impacts, of diet inputs and technologies, applied to the alternative animal feeds;
  • Analytical and experimental methods for alternative feed evaluation;
  • Environmental impacts of feed technologies in animal production.
