This research is motivated by the political activities carried out by President Joko Widodo's family during his active tenure. The problem was that Joko Widodo was criticized for allegedly practising dynastic politics by perpetuating his family in political positions in Indonesia while still serving as president. Therefore, this study aims to explain the discourse in online media related to the issue of the dynasty politics of President Joko Widodo's family in Indonesia. Then, this research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. This data used the data analysis technique in this study, which used Nvivo 12 plus software. The main data source of this research comes from credible and reputable online news, namely Kompas.com, liputan6.com, detiknews.com, tempo.co, and CNN Indonesia. The finding of this study is that digital media has an important role in spreading political issues. Digital media, in this case, online media, reveals that the problem of dynastic politics is not only due to the practice of money politics and political dowries but more than that, changing the rules of the game by using power is also a reinforcing factor and has an impact on the unhealthiness of democracy. Then, in terms of the strength of the network owned by the ruler, it is not just a family relationship, but the network of political support from parties and volunteers is also a determining factor in the success of dynastic politics. Furthermore, dynastic politics is also caused by the ruler having enormous access to the financiers of his conglomerate network. Thus, these large oligarchic economic groups can control political power due to the need for very high political costs in a democratic country.
