Artificial intelligence (AI) has the ability to assist nurses in making clinical decisions in challenging care scenarios or in performing duties that are distant from direct patient contact, such as documentation procedures. The development and research of AI applications for nursing care has increased, but there is still a dearth of thorough overviews that include the body of research supporting prospective application scenarios. In addition to highlighting related topics in the social, legal, and ethical debate around the use of AI in nursing care, this study synthesizes literature on application possibilities for AI in nursing care settings. AI applications are mostly used for fall detection, tracking activity, health classification, picture and signal processing, and care coordination. However, very few studies, particularly those involving data gathered outside of laboratory settings, have reported their impacts on clinical outcomes. Artificial intelligence has potential uses in nursing care, which might make use of well-known AI techniques such as expert or hybrid systems and machine learning (ML). The discussion of technology use in healthcare has not yet addressed its ethical, legal, or societal ramifications. Although there are no actual results, this study emphasizes the potential of AI systems in nursing care settings. The objectives, advantages, and outcomes related to nursing care should be the focus of future studies, which should also address any ethical or legal ramifications and involve relevant parties.
