The Humanities Journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. We fully comply with their code of conduct and best practice guidelines.
The journal's editors implement a rigorous double-blind peer review process and strict ethical guidelines and standards to ensure that high-quality scholarly work is added to the field of scholarly publishing. The editors of the Humanities Journal take publication ethics issues like these very seriously and are trained to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, data falsification, image manipulation, improper attribution, etc.
Authors wishing to publish in the Humanities Journal must be aware of the following:
Our editorial team investigates reports of journalist misconduct and, if necessary, contacts the author's institution or sponsor. If evidence of wrongdoing is discovered, appropriate action will be taken to correct or withdraw the disclosure. Authors must adhere to the best publishing ethics when publishing in Humanities Journal.
Research Ethics
Ethics Statement on the Animals Used in Experiments
Articles submitted for possible publication in the Humanities Journal must respect animal welfare during research. The authors should follow international, national, and/or institutional guidelines for animal care and use. A research ethics committee must approve studies at the institution. After the Conclusions section, the "Ethical Considerations" statement should be added. See an example:
"Animal care and handling procedures followed the Ethics Committee's guidelines on the Use of Animals in Experiments. (Include committee name and authorization number)."
Human subjects
If your research involves human subjects, the following requirements must be met. Obtain prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or equivalent ethics committee for research involving human subjects. Obtain written consent from all patients; provide details on how informed consent for the study was obtained.
I confirm that I have obtained all consent required by the applicable law to publish any personal details or images of patients, research subjects, or other individuals used. I agree to provide the Humanities Journal with copies of the consent or evidence that such consent has been obtained if requested.
All clinical trials must be registered in one of the publicly accessible registries approved by the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors). Authors must provide the trial registration number. All submissions describing clinical research and/or research on human subjects will be checked by journal staff to ensure that the requirements above are met. Failure to meet requirements may be grounds for rejection.
Declaration of interest
All authors should disclose any personal and/or financial relationships with other people or organizations that may improperly influence their paper. Examples of potential competing interests include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, grants, or other funding.
A conflict of interest statement should be provided in the manuscript file immediately before the References section.
Conflicts of Interest: The authors declare no conflicts of interest.
Role of the funding source
You are requested to identify who provided financial support for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the article and to briefly describe the role of the sponsor(s), if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the paper for publication.
Authorship
Humanities Journal follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines which state that, to qualify for authorship of a manuscript, the following criteria should be observed:
Any change to the author list should be approved by all authors, including any who have been removed from the list. The corresponding author should act as a point of contact between the editor and the other authors, keep co-authors informed, and involve them in major decisions. We reserve the right to request confirmation that all authors meet the authorship conditions.
Changes to authorship
Authors are expected to consider the list and order of authors carefully before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only if the journal editor approves.
Before the manuscript has been accepted: requests to add or remove an author, or to rearrange the author names, must be sent to the Humanities Journal Team and Editorial Office ([email protected]) from the corresponding author and must include: (a) the reason the name should be added or removed, or the author names rearranged and (b) written confirmation (e-mail) signed by all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of adding or removing authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. The Journal Manager will forward requests that are not sent by the corresponding author to the corresponding author, who must follow the procedure as described above. Note that: (1) Journal Managers will inform the Journal Editors of any such requests and (2) manuscript processing is suspended until authorship has been agreed upon.
After the manuscript has been accepted: only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider adding, deleting, or rearranging authors.
To carry out this correction before the online publication, there will be a charge of USD 50.
If the manuscript has already been published online, any requests approved by the Editor will result in an Erratum, implying the payment of an APC (with current value) since it is a new document to be published online.
Reviewers recommendation
The authors can recommend potential reviewers. The editor will check to ensure no conflicts of interest before contacting those reviewers and will not consider those with competing interests. Reviewers are asked to declare any conflicts of interest. Authors can also enter the names of potential peer reviewers they wish to exclude from consideration in their manuscript's peer review during the initial submission progress. The editorial team will respect these requests so long as this does not interfere with the objective and thorough assessment of the submission.
Peer Review
This journal operates a double-blind review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then sent to at least two independent expert reviewers to assess the paper's scientific quality. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor's decision is final.
Open access
This is an open-access journal: all articles will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. The following Creative Commons user licenses define permitted third-party (re)use.
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs (CC BY-NC-ND)
Allows users to copy and distribute the article, provided this is not done for commercial purposes, and further does not permit distribution of the article if it is changed or edited in any way and provided the user gives appropriate credit (with a link to the formal publication through the relevant DOI), provides a link to the license, and that the licensor is not represented as endorsing the use made of the work. Copyrights
For all articles published in Malque Publishing journals, the authors retain the copyright. Articles are licensed under an open-access Creative Commons license, meaning anyone can download and read the paper for free. Besides, the article may be reused and quoted, provided the original published version is cited. These conditions allow for maximum use and exposure of the work while ensuring the authors receive proper credit.
In exceptional circumstances, articles may be licensed differently. If you have a specific condition (such as one linked to funding) that does not allow this license, please mention this to the journal's editorial office at submission. Exceptions will be granted at the discretion of the publisher.
Editorial Policies
This journal uses software for plagiarism detection. We do not tolerate manuscripts that jeopardize ethics in publishing.
The authors are required to comply with the guidelines presented here. The Editorial Board may return manuscripts that are inconsistent with the guidelines. The authors are also required to present the material in English clearly and concisely. Although the editorial board and reviewers can give suggestions to improve the clarity of language, this is not its role. Thus, the authors who wish to publish your English articles must submit them for translation by a qualified person and present us with a certificate. The Editorial Board reserves the right to completely reject manuscripts whose interpretation is significantly hampered by language interests of clarity.
The language of articles published in Humanities Journal: English only. Authors from countries of non-English languages may submit their manuscripts in Portuguese or Spanish. If the article is accepted for publication, the authors may translate it into English.
All manuscripts must be written in the chosen language's clear and grammatically correct form. American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these.
Review of manuscripts: Upon submission, the editor-in-chief enlists reviewers to assist in evaluating the manuscript. The review process is confidential, which infers a bond of trust among the authors, editor, and reviewers. The editor is a trustee of the manuscript until the review process is completed and ensures that the review process is fair, thorough, and confidential. Reviewers are asked not to share the contents of the manuscript with anyone. Communication with authors should only be through the editor. Reviewers should notify the editor of conflicts of interest
that may compromise their ability to provide a fair and unbiased review. Moreover, they must recognize their responsibility to maintain the confidential nature of the review. The authors will generally be notified of acceptance, rejection, or need for revision within 1 week of submission.
Acceptance: The paper's acceptance implies that it has been reviewed and recommended by at least 2 peer reviewers. Editor-in-Chief's decision is final.
Rejected manuscripts: If a manuscript is rejected, the corresponding author may discuss the matter with the editor of the manuscript. If the author believes a rejection decision was erroneous or biased, he/she may appeal the decision directly, in writing, to the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief will review the author's reasons and all materials related to the manuscript and accept or deny the appeal. A rejected manuscript may be resubmitted for publication only if the Editor-in-Chief specifically recommends this course of action.
The time limit of manuscript revision: A reviewed paper returned to authors for revision must be returned to the editor within one week. If not, the paper may be treated as a new submission. Under unusual circumstances, editors may extend the revision deadline beyond one week.
